Youth Employment

The Youth Employment program at African Immigrants Community Services serves low-income and at-risk youth ages 14 to 24 who lack academic and “applied skills” considered critical for current and future workplace needs. We assist the youth with  work readiness training that focuses on the basics that employers expect, such as attendance, punctuality, teamwork, communication skills, and problem-solving. Training sessions are interactive.

Participants engage in group workshops, training, and one-on-one sessions with a  job counselor.

Every year, more than 30 young adults participate in the Youth Employment program, which is a partnership with the City of Minneapolis funded through the Minneapolis Youth Works Program.
