COVID-19 Vaccinations

The State of Minnesota is committed to the equitable distribution of a safe, FDA-approved vaccine for protection against COVID-19. Planning has commenced, and the first doses are already being administered to health care workers and those living in long-term care facilities.

  • Minnesota is launching a community COVID-19 vaccine pilot program, partnering with local public health and school districts, to place nine pilot sites across the state. These pilot sites will initially serve adults 65 years of age or older and educators (prekindergarten through grade 12), school staff, and child care workers. Read more about the pilot sites below.
  • Beginning Tuesday, January 19, at 12 p.m., Minnesotans 65 years of age or older can make an appointment to receive the vaccine at one of these pilot sites. Visit Find My Vaccine to learn more.
  • Education, school, and child care workers will receive information about signing up for an appointment from their employer.
  • While Minnesota is expanding those eligible for a vaccine, we continue to serve health care workers and long-term care residents and staff in Phase 1a. These people can still plan on receiving the vaccine through their workplace, care facility, or local public health. Minnesota remains on-pace to offer at least first doses of vaccine to all in these groups by the end of January.
  • This expansion is simply a pilot at this time; additional details on who will be included in Phase 1b will be available in coming weeks. There are many Minnesotans in front-line industries, with underlying health conditions, or at increased risk who need access to the vaccine.
