Covid Testing

How will I get my test results?

Someone from your county’s public health department who speaks your language will call you to tell you your results. IT IS EXTREMELY IMPORTANT THAT YOU ANSWER THE PHONE CALL FROM YOUR LOCAL PUBLIC HEALTH DEPARTMENT WHEN THEY CALL. The only process to access resources such as delivery of food/groceries/medication and other supports is to answer the call from the local public health department who will then make arrangements to meet your immediate needs and will give you a phone number to request more assistance if your situation changes or worsens. MAKE SURE TO WRITE DOWN THE CALL BACK NUMBER THEY GIVE YOU AND PUT IT IN A SAFE PLACE. The local public health department does NOT have a way for you to just call their general number and be able to be connected with the person who called you with your results, so make sure to write down the call back number.

Who should get tested?

  • People who have symptoms of COVID-19.
  • People who have had close contact (within 6 feet for a total of 15 minutes or more) with someone with confirmed COVID-19.
  • People who have taken part in activities that put them at higher risk for COVID-19 because they cannot socially distance as needed, such as travel, attending large social or mass gatherings, or being in crowded indoor settings.
  • People who have been asked or referred to get testing by their healthcare provider, local or state health department.

Not everyone needs to be tested. If you do get tested, you should self-quarantine/isolate at home pending test results and follow the advice of your health care provider or a public health professional.
